Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam is proud to host the new Vietnam Grand Prix from 2020, according to the official announcement on Formula One’s website. Liberty Media Group, the new owner of the sport has selected Hanoi as the first new addition to the calendar, in a long-term strategy to broaden the appeal of Formula One in new destination cities and reach new audience around the world.
It is a multi-year deal that has been signed by Vingroup, Hanoi promoter and Liberty Media to host the Grand Prix, which will be a race on the streets of the capital city. The Vietnam Grand Prix is scheduled in April, as a part of Formula One’s desire to organize the calendar by geography, with the races in Asia in the beginning of the season, Europe in the middle and America in the end.
After Malaysia ended its contract last year, a race in Vietnam is the return of Formula One to South-East Asia. Vietnam is a beautiful country and it is getting more interest of people around the world as a perfect destination for a private tour. A big event like the Formula One Grand Prix is certainly expected to bring more people travelling to Vietnam.
Will Vietnam Grand Prix be an extra race, or fill the gap left by others? That is the question after the announcement because there are doubts on the future of three historic races in Britain, Germany and Brazil. None of them have contracts beyond 2019. No matter what it would be, the Grand Prix will be a good reason for people to have a holiday in Vietnam. Also, for the Formula One’s fans, going to Vietnam to enjoy the race as well as visit the other amazing places on a Vietnam customized tour can be a perfect combination.
The circuit for Vietnam Grand Prix will be designed near My Dinh National Stadium, Nam Tu Liem District. Let’s take a look at some interesting facts about the Vietnam Grand Prix:
