You have several assignments to complete at once? You are meeting tight deadlines? You are accepting too many tasks from supervisors or members? These are critical signs that indicate you are overloaded with your work!
If you are going through any of these signs, it’s time to have some time for yourself. The stress and burnout when overworked only lead to poor work-hour productivity.
So, let's take a break. Visit a new country. Discover some hidden gems of nature. Experience dynamic culture. Or simply try a totally new dish.
Just add a few changes to your normal life, and you will be surprised by how amazing the results can be.
Still don’t know where to start, then Southeast Asia is my suggestion. Venture on an Indochina tour to a world of majestic rainforests, endless beaches, and enchanting cultures. I highly recommend you dive into some hidden gems like:
Chiang Mai (Thailand)
Hue - Hoi An (Vietnam)
Siem Reap (Cambodia. Yes, not Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap)
Luang Prabang (Laos. A different but memorable destination)
Let’s start with Thailand, for no other reason than it was the first destination on my trip. Though Thailand has many interesting places to visit, my ultimate recommendation for newbies is to choose a Thailand tailor-made tour and explore the below:
Bangkok:
The capital of convenience. A city of contrast. Modern but full of history. Lots of temples and lots of entertainment venues, at the same time. It’s huge, sprawling, exciting, and intoxicating.
I can spend all day describing my amazing experience in Bangkok, but you guys should definitely experience it yourself.
Chiang Rai:
A heaven when you want to reconnect with nature and find out more about the local cultures of Thailand. Or simply when you get bored of the hustle and bustle of city life :D
Chiang Mai:
A place where you can re-discover your inner peace with epic landscapes. Having a long-standing culture and quiet nightlife, spending a day Chiang Mai would completely change your mind about what utmost relaxation is.
5-day, 3 destinations, but enough to make me fall in love with the lovely Land of Smile. So if you're feeling a lack of smile, just take a getaway to Thailand!
If you are looking for something different, classic, something oldies but goodies, a Vietnam customized tour is your match made in heaven. Some wonderful places from North to South for your vacation:
Hanoi:
The charming capital of Vietnam with small old streets, classic architecture, and local cultures. Especially, there is always something special about the Hanoian, calm, elegant, and so attractive.
Halong Bay:
Goodbye the classic and old-school Hanoi and off to a UNESCO-listed site. Despite its fancy, Halong Bay has quite a lot to explore. For those who love to reconnect with nature, the emerald, crystal-clear water and magnificent islands in vivid shapes will not let you down. I would say, pretty much everything you need for a vacation, Halong Bay can afford.
Hue - Hoi An:
Wanna deeply explore the culture and history of Vietnam, you can't miss out Hue - Hoi An. My top recommendations for the newbies are:
-The citadel
-Imperial City
-The Forbidden Purple City
-Perfume River
-Thien Mu Pagoda
-Khai Dinh Tomb
Ho Chi Minh City:
In case you get bored of small villages and old complexes, just take a break in Ho Chi Minh City. Let's enjoy coffee-hooping, award yourself with fancy Michelin awarded restaurants (But do not miss out on local cuisine :D). Your absolute check-list local dishes here are cơm tấm and hủ tíu (FYI: it’s Gordon Ramsey approved).
Mekong Delta:
Properly, this is the one and only place for visitors to purchase the freshest regional specialties, intricate handmade products, and enjoy delicious cuisines while sitting on a boat. My only note for you is to BRING CASH!!!
Have you ever visited a country with over 4000 temples? If not, Cambodia is your next destination to enjoy temple hopping. A complex cultural tapestry and a fascinating and long history are waiting ahead!
Angkor Wat:
First thing first, how can we miss out on such world wonder? A popular destination where timeless artistry meets natural beauty.
Siem Reap
This is where you can find the “Citadel of the Women”. But don’t worry, it’s just a name with a beautiful story behind it, the temple is open to anyone.
A zen destination for those craving fresh air and green scenery (typically me whenever I’m overloaded)
Luang Prabang:
A perfect mixture of ancient beauty and tranquil serenity. Beautiful in the daytime and charming at night. Such a great blend of experiences, what can I ask for more? I personally enjoyed my me-time here sooo much! Having a family tour at Luang Prabang would be a quality time for you and your loved ones.
Pak Ou Cave:
Of course, we can't forget the historic and sacred site dating back thousands of years packed with over 4000 Buddha icons. Wanna add some fun to your trip? Just go to the cave by boat. A scenic boat ride with great views of the limestone mountains and riverside life is such an incredible experience.
Khoang Si Waterfall:
Beautiful but not too crowded. Personally, this is a perfect destination to end the trip peacefully.
That’s it! I end my trip with no regrets.
18 days to reflect and reconnect with my inner self, regain my motivation and balance my hectic life. There remain quite a lot of hidden gems I didn’t have time to visit, but we have to leave something for the next trip to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, right? :D
If you find it difficult to plan the trip yourself, sign in for a tour. Having a tour package is always an easy and convenient choice. Also, choosing a tour means that you don't have to worry about the languages. Because there is always a tour guide by your side.
Most importantly, you should plan your trip from November to April. It's the best time to explore Indochina.
