Ban Gioc Waterfall

Located in the district of Trung Khanh in Cao Bang Province, Ban Gioc Waterfall is the largest and most stunning waterfall in Vietnam. The waterfall is actual 300 meters across and 30 meters high which makes a wonderful sight. Ban Gioc Waterfall in recent years has been a popular destination for travellers on any Vietnam customized tours.

Setting in the boundary between Vietnam and China, Ban Gioc Waterfall is the fourth largest waterfall along national border in the world. Accordingly, the waterfall located half in China and half in Vietnam. Surrounded by beautiful limestone karsts, rice fields and bamboo groves, Ban Gioc Waterfall is truly an attraction that should not missed when travelling to the mountainous North Vietnam. Travellers can also get on bamboo rafts to get closer to the waterfall and appreciate the cascading waters.

Best time to visit
In fact, a trip to Ban Gioc Waterfall can be done perfectly at any time of the year since the river and its water are normally high enough to make the waterfall look beautiful. However, the months during rainy season between May and September can be the best time to visit Ban Gioc Waterfall. The river gets water at its highest volume and the water is flowing strongly and the waterfalls look stunning.

How to get there
Located 350 km from Hanoi, travellers can take a bus via Highway 3 to Cao Bang City, then continue with the provincial in Cao Bang to get to Ban Gioc Waterfalls.

Travelling by motorbike is a good option to visit Ban Gioc Waterfalls. It give interesting experience when enjoying the spectacular scenery along the route. Travellers can split the journey into 2 or 3 days to combine with other destinations such as Ba Be Lake in Bac Kan Province.

Alternatively, booking a group tour from Hanoi or having private tour with driver and tour guide will give comfortable and convenient experiences.

Accommodations
There is a 4-star hotel Saigon - Ban Gioc right in the area. Besides, travellers can choose to stay in many hostels and homestays in Ban Gioc. However, many people will visit the waterfall during the day then travel back to Cao Bang City or Trung Khanh Town for hotel accommodations.
